Parade Safety Rules for Sligo St. Patrick’s Day Parade

  • Arrival for all participants is at Mail Coach road – Location
  • Please enter the Mail Coach Road from the Pearse Road entry ONLY beside Christies Filling station – Location
  • Please note that all entries will have an allotted time for ingress on the day, and a designated
    holding area on Mail Coach Road, and will be notified by email the week before the 17th March.
    On arrival our stewards will be on hand to direct you if needed. Please have patience and listen
    to our Volunteer Stewards/Gardai. – Location
  • Also please note there is a predetermined order of flow to the parade this year, which cannot be changed
    on the day. Designated Emergency Area/Kids lost, and found are located at the Tourist Office at the top of
    O’Connell Street.
  • There is a Quiet Zone on Lower Quay Street we ask for no noise from bands, speakers, vehicles for this section.
    There are signs and stewards to show you this space.
  • Accessible areas located at O’Connell Street and Teeling Street
  • Please keep a safe gap between entries and it is important to keep the parade moving.
  • Please adhere to all Garda/Stewards instructions.
  • For Vehicles, we ask that you have 2 people in each Vehicle/Truck both of whom can drive said Vehicle.
    Only 2 vehicles per entry and or per business entry. Please take extra care at turns and tighter sections of the
    route. All large truck/vehicle entries (especially long vehicles where drivers view may be limited) are asked to
    bring 2 volunteers.
  • One to walk in front and one behind the vehicle at all times and communicate with driver when necessary.
    Maximum vehicle/float 4.65m in height, 2.9m wide. 8.2m long.
  • No Flyers, and no consumables to be handed out to crowd, and absolutely no throwing of anything.
  • At the end of the route, please keep moving and disperse out of the way so the road is not blocked.
  • The parade end is located on Pearse Road at the junction beyond the Mercy Primary School. Please keep
    moving to this point and you may then disperse onto St Brigids Terrace, up Pearse Road or towards the
    Mercy Secondary school on Chapel Hill. Please do not block the road at any point after finishing.
